The "Pennies from Heaven Project" is a God given idea which I believe the Holy Spirit wants me to share with others who can take on the vision and make it their own.
This is not an organization, NGO, or company... No donations are made to "the project"; its up to the individual giver(s) to share their pennies treasures with one of the wonderful organizations who are graciously and faithfully serving the Persecuted Church today. It will all depend on which type of seed you wish to sow into the church of Smyrna.
The following well known and respected organizations main mission is in serving the Persecuted Church, these are...
- Voice of the Martyrs
- Open Doors
- Christian Freedom International
The organizations (listed below) have missionary and (or) relief efforts which cover many areas that help meet the needs of the Persecuted Church, as well as general evangelization...
- Gospel for Asia
- Trans World Radio
- World Harvest
I have great faith in every one of these organizations and have sown seed into all of them. I have no doubt that they all have the favor of God and are doing great works and making great strides in completion of the great commission, as well as keeping God's mandate that the body of Christ must not forget or neglect their own brethren. I consider their founders and leaders to truly be a type of modern day Apostle. Their humility, grace, compassion, mercy and dedication are beyond measure.
My hope is to increase awareness of the Persecuted Church, and that the Holy Spirit will open many new hearts to truly embrace these brothers and sisters of the modern day church of Smyrna of which there are several hundred million believers today. Persecution can not be equated with religious discrimination, it's scope goes far beyond that.
For those whom the Holy Spirit leads to embrace the vision, each will have personal responsibility for following through with all the planning, tailoring to your own creative needs, and implementing your own Pennies Project. I will share a few ideas of my own that can help you get a jump start. Feel free to embrace as much or little as you are led.
This can be as simple or complicated, small or great as you desire.
It's really all up to you, with the help & leading of God....
The main idea of a "special gift" dedicated to the Persecuted church [derived from funds outside of the normal tithes, offerings and gifts and budget] may not appeal to everyone, but is for those unique individuals God has specially earmarked as "givers" - that can see the endless possibilities that even small change can bring about.
God's Word records the power and appreciation of even the smallest of gifts as is shown in the story of the "widows mite"... her gift literally amounted to 2/5th's of one penny! yet Jesus brought it to the attention of His own disciples.
For those who need to be reminded that even in their poverty, the smallest of gifts can amount to much in the eyes of the Lord, the story of the widow in Mark 12:41-44 can be our example and a source of encouragement...
